Interview with Kay Yeo

What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Writing is like an escape to me, an escape to a world where anything can happen, as long as you have the imagination. Writing brings imaginations to life and allows the reader to indulge in a different world. It's a way for me to bring words to life, to express feelings and emotions, to touch a person's heart. I can show people what I see through my own eyes and let them share my point of view.
What do your fans mean to you?
They mean the world to me. It is an indescribable feeling to have people be a fan of your work, knowing that people love what you write, and they want more. Fans confirm the fact that you're talented and encourage you to go on. Fans are my motivation and they boost my self-esteem. I think that author-fan interactions are important so I hope that my fans will always interact with me and become a friend.
What are you working on next?
I'm planning to work on a full fledged novel. Hahaha. I won't say what it is because I want it to be a surprise! However, there might be some short stories up before this novel is completed.
Who are your favorite authors?
Well, I love many authors, but just to name a few : Sophie Kinsella, Cecelia Ahern, Rick Riordan, J.K. Rowling...
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
The first story that I wrote was a fanfiction of a member of the kpop group, Exo. His name's Sehun. In the story, he was just a boy-next-door and he fell in love with his best friend. The girl however laughed him off when he confessed. After that, she realized that she loved him and couldn't be without him. But both were too stubborn to talk to each other. In the end, they kissed and made up after Sehun brought her to the hospital after fainting one day. It's the first story I posted on instagram, or any social networking sites for that matter (it's a kpop fanfiction account but you can go check it out if you like it, it's @storieslovenme).
What is your e-reading device of choice?
Well, I've never tried that many but the one I'm using now is iRiver and I also use my phone to read books on Wattpad.
