Interview with Amanda Kimberley

Published 2014-08-05.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
I use my iPhone and read the iBooks app and the Kindle app.
Describe your desk
It's a white marble desk that tends to get very cluttered and messy as I work on my books. It becomes FILLED with sticky notes that I use to remind myself of characters, plot, and scene.
When did you first start writing?
At the age of nine. I was in the fourth grade and Ms. McCarthy allowed us to write short stories for extra credit. I wrote a lot of stories for her because I wasn't that good a math so I needed all the extra credit I could get. ;)
What's the story behind your latest book?
Forever Friends from thought to publishing took 20 years. When I was in college I was fascinated with past life regression after reading the book "Many Masters, Many Lives" and the idea of Forever Friends had its start from there. But I didn't really get around to putting anything on paper until around 2008. It then took from then till May of 2014 to write, polish, edit, format, and publish the book.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia in late 2005 and had to leave my former career because of the illness. Being home was nice. I got to spend a lot of time with my children, but I also thought it was now time for me to focus on what I had always wanted to do, write and publish on my own. I started that venture in 2006 and have not ever regretted that decision.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Falling in love with the characters and seeing how they move the story.
What do your fans mean to you?
The world! I have one fan that has been my cheerleader right from the start. We talk to each other often and I consider her a dear friend.
What are you working on next?
Two different paranormal romances. One is called Manifestations which is a stand alone and the other is the prequel to Forever Friends. It is called Forever Bound.
Who are your favorite authors?
There's tons! But to name a few there's, Christie Silvers, Jasinda Wilder, and Amanda Ashley.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
On my tough days due to Fibromyalgia, it's determination to feed my kids and Grandmother breakfast. On my good days it's the actual sun. I like to enjoy my cup of tea watching the sun rise.
