Interview with Kimberly Bird

What are you working on next?
I am working on something different for me. It is about female power and the key we hold in our blood. Lots of drama and suspense.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I love spending time with my daughters, grandchildren, and fishing inbetween. There are many other things I do for hobbies, but those are my favorites :)
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
Edgar Allen Poe, The Raven
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in the prairies, moving from one place to another until I was old enough to be on my own. I was a introvert to the point I wouldn't talk. The books I read became my life line. They nurtured the shy child in me, taught me to not be afraid, taught me that there is a world out there outside of my realm of the ugliness that was my childhood. My writings are my life and give me comfort.
When did you first start writing?
I started writing when I was in my late 20's. I'm now 50 ha wow.
What's the story behind your latest book?
I have 3 novels on here, but my last novel is Pearls of Wisdom. I believe in love and so many of my novels are about love, but a strong love, one of endurance and acceptance, something that is really hard to find in reality. But it is also about their individual lives, battles, scars, loss, strength in arms and honour.
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
I am very grateful to Smashwords for publishing my works not only for recognition but also to meet with other author's and support them as well.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
my greatest joy of writing is when the whole story clicks and comes full circle.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
No, but I know it's still in my box of writings :)
What is your writing process?
Coffee and lots of it, an opened window and a laptop to write with.
What do you read for pleasure?
I love Historical Romance, preferably medieval because I love battle scenes and all the political intrigue. Aside from that, fictional short stories that makes one think, opens your mind to a different reality
What is your e-reading device of choice?
laptop
