Interview with Kay Mortimer

Tell me more about yourself, Kay Mortimer.
I am an Ordained Minister, Bible student and Bible teacher, having studied and taught Bible topics for over 45 years. My passion is the Word of God and I love to dig deep, learn more about my God from His Word, and then share what I learn with others.

I have discovered so much depth of treasure in the Bible, and have learned to appreciate the original languages, customs, and heritage of the Scriptures. Having a considerable amount of study into the Jewish roots of our Christian faith has been extremely rewarding, particularly in seeing just how beautifully the Old and New Testaments fit together perfectly.

I am constantly amazed as I dig deeper into the Scriptures, and find great joy in sharing those truths with you.
Coupling my love of God's Word with my business professionalism and experience in accounting and taxation provides me a unique ministry opportunity also.

In my "free" time, I enjoy spending time with my family, doing jigsaw puzzles, and watching select TV or movies.

I am the Founder and Director of Covenant Truth Ministries, where our passion is the Word of God. We seek to share with you our journey to discover Jesus in the jots and tittles of the Holy Scriptures.

My prayer is that our ministry will help you come to know the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior, and grow as His disciple.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Most days, I spend non-writing time studying the Bible and serving others as part of my ministry. My days are filled with so many opportunities, and I try to make the most of each one.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
Each day the joy of serving and worshiping the Lord Jesus Christ inspires me to get out of bed and thank God for another day of life. Each day provides another opportunity to love Him and to love other people and serve the Lord with my talents and gifts. Knowing God and His will for my life fills me with purpose and inspiration. I am grateful for each new day!
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in small town America, where a kid could be a kid and be safe. I remember playing outside, selling lemonade to strangers, and walking alone two blocks to the candy store and to school. Our streets were safe and our neighbors looked out for one another.
Having such a wonderful foundation from my environment built into me independence, security, and confidence. It allowed me to develop into a well-rounded confident human being with a sense of civic duty.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
The first story I ever wrote that I recall is from my childhood. I would sit outside and write poems and short stories. One of these won a high grade in a school project.
What's the story behind your latest book?
"Yes: God's Answer to Our Questions" became the product of one Saturday's twelve-hour writing day. At the end of those twelve hours, I had written 10,000 words that formed the spine of this book.

I woke up that morning and sensed the Lord revealing to me how affirmative He really is. He led me to read and study 2 Corinthians 1:18-20, and the revelations from this, and prior, studies began to come in ways that crafted into this inspirational book.

In "Yes," I share with you my journey of study and revelation as God showed me how the whole of the Bible is a book of "Yes." All of Christ's ministry is affirmative. The work of the Apostles was affirmative. The work of the Church today should be affirmative.

We should let others know of our positive God who loves them and has a wonderful plan for their lives. We serve a God who forgives sinners and who grants them saving faith and His grace that empowers them to live positive and victorious lives.

I believe that "Yes: God's Answer to Our Questions" will be an easy-to-read addition that you will find inspiring and uplifting. I crafted it with discussion questions in the back, allowing for personal reflection or small-group study. May you be blessed from the Word of God shared through this simple message.
What do your fans mean to you?
Each person that reads my books or receives from my broadcasts represents an individual person whom Christ loves and died for. It is my joy and honor to be able to share with you, my readers, the truths that God reveals to me in the hopes that these will help you to know Jesus Christ in a fuller and more vibrant way. I desire to help each one of you know the love of God and how He desires you to be His disciple.
What are you working on next?
Currently, I am working on several new projects, and revisions to a few older ones.

I am revising, and expecting to publish shortly, my award-winning inspirational booklet for writers. I also have several church dramas that I am revising and writing at the current time.

Our ministry is producing many digital resources through podcasts, and upcoming YouTube videos, and will be polishing these for publication shortly.

Our new mobile phone app is also in the works and will be available shortly.

Describe your desk
From what I gather from other author friends, my desk is normal for us creative types. You see, we can create and craft nonfiction books, digital messages, drama scripts, and fiction stories. But I, for one, am atrocious at organization! My desk has certain "piles." I know what's in each one, but others might think it's just a big mess. I'm working on discipline to be better organized. Creative juices come easier than organizational ones for me.
