What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
Every day I am excited to see what's in store. Over the years, I probably taught 2500 teenagers. I was glad to go to work each day. People, especially unique and eccentric people, make me laugh.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
My greatest joy is teasing apart the emotions and conflicts in a situation to find out what is at the root of the problem. Then I try to understand and empathize with those emotions as honestly as I can, from as many points of view as I can. If I can find any humor in those strong emotions, even better.

John Kennedy Toole and Kurt Vonnegut
