Interview with Kevin B Parsons

What are you working on next?
I just finished '50 States in 50 Weeks; Easy Rider Revisited,' and am working on a fiction book. It's all written, just needs editing and tweaking. Very excited about it!
Who are your favorite authors?
Lee Child, Vince Flynn, Stephen King, and Jerry Jenkins.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
I love life! Great to get up and get after it, whatever it may be.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Riding dirt bikes, street bikes, active in church.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
Read one, check out the 'also read' options, and talk to friends and family.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Yes, a short story, 'Jimmy' about a truck driver, working in a Nevada mine. It never got published. I still like it.
What is your writing process?
Sit and write. Finish. Go back and rewrite. Go back and search for weak prose, edit it out, go back and search for adjectives that weaken the prose. Spelling and grammar check, then off to the editor.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
At a very young age, I read a story about a schoolhouse where the last kid got a swat. Made me punctual.
How do you approach cover design?
Get an expert, but have my own input.
What are your five favorite books, and why?
The bible, I read it once a year for inspiration and soul edification. I like Dick Francis' books too.
What do you read for pleasure?
Thriller, mystery.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
The iPad. I use it almost exclusively.
Describe your desk
A cheap crappy desk, covered with papers and junk. It includes a spectacular view of drywall. Truly inspiring. At least it doesn't distract.
Okay, it also features my first place 'Best in the Desert, Vegas to Reno' plaque. That does inspire me.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in Seattle, Washington and decided to start a neighborhood newspaper. I typed the 'news' on 3x5 cards with a typewriter. I quit after the first edition, too much typing!
When did you first start writing?
I really started writing in 2005, feeling I needed to be creative, and had something to say.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
The Christian genre' is too restricted. I want to identify areas in Christianity and Christian leadership that the Christian pubs don't want to publish.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Someone reading my work and good or bad, it impacted them.
What do your fans mean to you?
I love my followers! they are passionate people.
