Interview with Jennifer Comeaux

Published 2013-09-06.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
The greatest joy of writing for me is creating characters and stories that touch readers' emotions and make them feel like they're part of my fictional world. When a reader has an emotional reaction to one of my stories, that's what makes me the happiest!
What do your fans mean to you?
My fans are everything to me. Their support has inspired me so much and it keeps me going when I'm stuck in the middle of a story and can't figure out which path to take. I don't think readers know just how much it means to me when they say they enjoy my stories!
What are you working on next?
I'm working on a companion novel for my EDGE series. It will tell the story of one of the secondary characters from the series.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I have a regular full-time job as a tax accountant, so that takes up my work week. When not working or writing, I love to read and listen to music. And I have a slight TV addiction to a number of shows including Once Upon a Time, How I Met Your Mother, Chicago Fire, Pretty Little Liars, and So You Think You Can Dance.
Who are your favorite authors?
Tammara Webber and Stephanie Perkins are two of my favorites.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
I use Goodreads and social media to find ebooks, and I also have a friend who has similar reading taste to mine. She gives me a lot of recommendations.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
I do! And I still have it! The first story I ever wrote was when I was about seven years old, and it was titled Abandoned to be a Star. It was about a group of cousins whose parents left them alone while they went to L.A. to try to become movie stars.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
I don't remember the first story I ever read, but I was obsessed with reading the Sweet Valley High series when I was a kid, and those books shaped my writing a lot. I loved the drama of the Wakefield sisters!
What do you read for pleasure?
I read mostly Young Adult and New Adult contemporary romance. I also dabble a little in adult contemporary romance. I love reading about couples falling in love, and I also like when there's some family drama that goes along with it.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
I have a first-generation Kindle. It's simple with no bells and whistles, but it's so handy for reading!
When did you first start writing?
I first started writing when I was very young - around seven years old - and I wrote a ton of stories when I was a kid. I stopped writing fiction when I got to high school, though, and I didn't start again until just a few years ago. A friend encouraged me to write a story idea I had, and it turned into my first book!
