Interview with L.A. Kennedy

What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Having you hold it in your hands and venture into the world I've created. Hoping you felt exactly what I felt, as I wrote it.
What are you working on next?
I'm currently working on book two of my Demon Hunter Series.
But every now and again, I get lost in my research, only to emerge after an hour on YouTube without the research I originally set out to complete. (I can now built a fire, talk to a goat, and milk a cat.)
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
LIFE!
It excites me, to my core.
What will I do today? What will I see? Who will I meet? Who can I help? What can I give? What will I learn? What can I teach?
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Reading.
Next to reading, marveling at the red dot my cat has become increasingly obsessed with.
I love a good adventure. I love to explore my community, feel the culture and vibe, see the history and bones of my neighborhoods.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
Twitter, Facebook, word of mouth, flipping to the last page on Amazon/Kindle/Kobo and working backwards (I've found some of my most favorites on the last pages).
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Grade 2: A Donkey without a Hump.
(I swear, it was award worthy!)
A story of triumph and heartbreaking reality for a young donkey who struggles to fit in amongst camels. Sadly, he has no hump and is shunned by his peers. Alas, he finds acceptance within a group of camels who lost their humps. This Donkey finds their humps, restoring their camel-ness, a gift given for their kindness. In return, the camels give the donkey his very own hump, and he lives happily ever after, with a hump of his own.

What is your writing process?
SEE: Rabid monkey banging her head on a keyboard
How do you approach cover design?
RESEARCH RESEARCH RESEARCH!
I book the day for design and converse with other writers and artists, never giving in and going with a "good enough".
What's the story behind your latest book?
Macabre is based on a dream, one where I woke up screaming. I was terrified, yet excited. It has a dash of erotica and bdsm, which made me want to go back to sleep and jump back in.
What do you read for pleasure?
Almost anything I can get my hands on, primarily fiction. I love a good thriller/horror, sci-fi, and paranormal.

Book 1 ~ I was the typical single woman, right down to my little black cat. You’d never think “Sweet Elle Morgan” had a darker side, but I did, and it was delicious. I worked nine to five, seven days a week. Only my shifts started when the rest of the city was shutting down for the night. A typical work night for me involved latex, floggers, hand cuffs, and safe words.

Iverland Marks was ten years old when the new millennium hit, Y2K landed with a bang. As the world rang in the New Year, it was awoken to the praeternatural. Vampires, shifters, trolls, demons and creatures of myth, were as real as the air we breathe. Ivy was on every praeternatural hit list in town. It didn't make her flinch. She was a half-breed and had a hit list of her own.
