My desk looks like a busy taxi rank in Johannesburg. Busy, busy, busy. Whatever is on it, will be used at some time or another and nobody dares take anything from it. At any given time it is cluttered with notes, notebooks, pens, pencils and the normal paraphernalia that writers normally think they'll use at some point in future..
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I'm a son of the South African and African Bush-veld. Born and bred and thoroughly in love with the place.
When did you first start writing?
I started writing about eight years ago when I had to help one of my granddaughters write an essay. Nikita got nearly full marks for her essay and that made me realize that I should try and put some of my many experiences to paper. I started off by writing in long hand and soon bought a PC and then there was no looking back. Nearly everything I write, has something to do with the Bush-veld, my paradise.
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
Smashwords became my savior because the market for Afrikaans in South-Africa is so small.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
To see other people enjoy what I tell them.
What do your fans mean to you?
A great deal, because without them, nobody would advertise my stories.
What are you working on next?
I'm working on several stories, but my next book is a novel with alcoholism as background.
Who are your favorite authors?
I have no favorites, because I learn from each and every one.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
Life! I am a positive person who love life and cannot enough of it.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Reading, reading, reading and more reading.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
Throug a friend. The best thing that could ever happen for me.
