Interview with Lauralee

What do your fans mean to you?
My fans mean an opportunity to share, inspire, and learn from! Fans are what fuels my drive to write.
What are you working on next?
The 2nd installment to L: Her Chronicles. I want it to be a series. Maybe 3 or 4 short books!
Who are your favorite authors?
I always loved Nicholas Sparks. I'm very much into love. Lately Diane-Kay Diaz has also inspired me with her scripts!
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
I get out of bed for my daughter, my younger sister, her son and my loving boyfriend! I live for my family and close friends!
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I love to be with my daughter, teaching her basic reading, writing, and more useful things she'll need in life. She's only 5 so as a sponge I want her to 'soak up' as much of the good stuff as possible. I also love to swim and serve others through community outreach.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
I'm old school, so ebooks are fairly new to me! If you feel like recommending a good read I'll definitely check it out
What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
As a new author, I've been getting more interaction through social media. Primarily, Instagram and Facebook have given me the most interaction.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in Florida. I believe the warm weather and the fact that I had to move there because of my medical issues most definitely influenced my writing. I am a story! I spent that first four years of life in the hospital so my story, although it's not the first I've had published, has always been my inspiration to write.
When did you first start writing?
I started writing at age sixteen.
What's the story behind your latest book?
I am a domestic abuse survivor. I was able to finally leave my abuser once my child was born, and I realized that I had to keep her and me safe now. Once I finally admitted to being in an abusive relationship, I got into another. After spending three years with a man who controlled me emotionally, mentally, and of course, physically, I finally realized the circle I was in and got professional help. Once I took my story from my personal journal to conversations with other women I began to realize that I was giving a testament. My mother, boyfriend, and close family and friends then began to urge me to write and publish a book to share with other women and men who are in abusive relationships and think they can't get out . Five years, maybe a little more, later L: Her Chronicles was published.
