Interview with Lavren Le'Clore

When did you first start writing?
I began writing when I was about 16 with no aspirations of becoming an author. My writing was an escape into a fantasy world.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I never intended to become an author however, a family member published her novel through Smashwords and she encouraged me to do the same. I decided to then share my work as an Indie Author. I am proud of what I have achieved and do not wish to lose that aspect of myself.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
That fact that I'm free to create just about anything, governed only by the boundries of my own mind.
What is your writing process?
Progressively from beginning to end, as the story unfolds in my mind. I plan the sequences and then write.
What do your fans mean to you?
I am truly honoured by those that find my work worth reading, they are as precious to me as my work itself.
What's the story behind your latest book?
My first publication is not my first book. My first book is my "Epic" novel which is a fantasy/adventure/action/scifi 300 000 word work of art! However, it is still in the first edit and I believe I should publish my short stories written during this time to kickstart my literary career. After all, we have to start somewhere. Thundersnow is a short story based on fiction using facts which reveal the true effects of an unexpected event, a far cry from the imaginative world in which I generally lose myself.
What are you working on next?
I am still editing my Epic Fantasy Novel to be released in due course - my pride and joy and the reason I began writing.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in Southern Africa and I do not believe this influenced my writing. My need to create something unique influenced my writing based on my love for fantasy.
Describe your desk
A large, solid wooden desk, with a 22" LCD monitor, 2 Stereo speakers on either side, music is a must. Keyboard and Mouse.
A note pad on one side and place mat on the other, and Me - well organised!
How do you approach cover design?
I mull the motive behind the story then develop the graphics to suit with a strong link as an overview or preview of the novel.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
The fact that I have a Fantasy series of my own to complete!
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Long hours have been spent on Fantasy games and Movies - along with a good whiskey on ice!
Who are your favorite authors?
JK Rowling for the Harry Potter Series and Andrzej Sapkowski for the Witcher Series.
