Interview with Lynn Daniels

Published 2016-08-08.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
When I'm not writing I spend much of my time working on my art and surfing the web looking for more things to inspire me.
What is your writing process?
My writing process is simply writing down things as they come to me. I can spend many hours thinking of something and knowing that my mind cannot be at ease until I am finally able to write it all down.
How do you approach cover design?
Personally I think cover design is the second most daunting process of publishing a book. Usually I will have a thought of what I would like in my mind, but most often it takes coming across a striking photo for me to know that it is the image that I want to use.
What are you working on next?
I am working on several different projects at the moment. My two highest priority projects are finishing up book 5 of The Lost Stories short story series and book 3 in my In Search of Infinity novel series.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
My book The Midnight Manifesto is the very first story I ever wrote. Before then, I was always too shy to write down my ideas let alone share them with other people.
Describe your desk
Quite small actually. All of my work is condensed on my laptop, a flash drive, two dry-erase boards and a small notebook.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I moved around quite often when I was younger and most of those experiences were not particularly pleasant. I would say that it influenced my writing because my writing is an escape from my reality.
When did you first start writing?
I first started writing for leisure after finishing college. Before then, all of my writing was reserved for academic purposes only.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
I honestly don't have a preferred e-reading device. I am not a person who embraces technology quickly.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
I tend to discover new ebooks through doing promotion for my own books. If I come across a book with an interesting concept, I'll give it a shot. I don't have a favorite genre of books.
