Interview with Kerrie A. Picanzo

What do you read for pleasure?
I'm known for reading supernatural fanfictions and fiction. I don't know what it is, but a good alternate universe littered with vampires, werewolves, faeries, and mythical creatures somehow calls to me. Its not everyone's cup of tea, but it is surely mine.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
I have the Kindle app on my iPhone which I read on the daily from. I also am a frequent flyer of the Wattpad app too.
When did you first start writing?
I have always been a writer at heart. I began as soon as I could pick up paper and a pen. As a kid I did a lot of poetry writing and small short stories. My mom, grandma, and great-grandma would find my writing and praise it all the time. They told me that my technique was a lot older than my age and that encouragement always made me believe in myself to keep going.
What's the story behind your latest book?
My latest book? Well, I can say that right now I've been 5 years mapping out my first full-length non-fanfiction story. I do think we take influence from other authors and what we read, and because of that, my story has been inspired by some of the supernatural books that I have read over the years (can I give a shout out to Jessica Verday of the Hollow Series & Becca Fitzpatrick of the Hush, Hush Series) but of course I'm adding my take. I have yet to start penning the story (and I'm keeping the title under-wraps for now), but I'm hoping to get it written (at least the first draft) soon.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Telling stories definitely! And also living in someone else's shoes for a bit. Reality can be so harsh sometimes and I feel that when you can escape to somewhere else for a minute it kinda helps make you feel better about things. And of course having other people enjoy what you have to say is pretty incredible too!
What do your fans mean to you?
Everything! I mean, the fans are what keeps you going, so the love and support from them MAKES you want to continue what you do. They are truly the greatest blessing to receive for sure!
Who are your favorite authors?
Too many to fully name but I will always love Stephenie Meyer for The Twilight Saga, I enjoy Jessica Verday, Becca Fitzpatrick, Cassandra Clare, Sylvia Day, Lauren Rowe, Erin McCarthy, Tabitha Vargo, Shay Savage, Cara Dee, and currently Victoria Aveyard.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I am a rescue mom to 1 dog and 2 cats, so I enjoy hanging out with them along with my husband. I also love to blog so you can find me blogging on wordpress under my handle lilvixendork.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
Sometimes its random, and sometimes its through recommendations from people.
What are you working on next?
Its been about 6-7 years in the making, but I've slowly been working on my first non-fanfiction novella. Right now I don't want to divulge too much into detail about it, but I can say that it is a supernatural story.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Yes. It was a Hanson fanfiction called FOREVER & EVER: the trilogy. When I re-read it a few years ago I had quite the laugh. Being 16 years old and trying your hand at a romantic story made me realize just how far in my writing I've come. What a difference being a kid to an adult can make!
What is your writing process?
I don't have a "process." I actually loath having a process because it feels forced and I don't like to be forced to write. I only do write when I have the motivation and inspiration. Typically I pressure myself and I've come to realize that when I do, my writing turns into complete crap.
