How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
Smashwords has given me a platform to launch my first e-book. Smashwords encourages authors by making the process of self-publishing easy.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I met indie authors who inspired me to write and publish my books. Yes, I can be a published author! I like the freedom to publish my books my way.
Describe your desk.
My laptop is my desk. I can write anywhere, outside on the deck, kitchen table, at the library, or the coffee shop.
What are you working on next?
I am working on another children's picture book titled "Bentley" that may be out late spring of 2016.
Who are your favorite authors?
My favorite children's book authors are Mercer Meyer, Loren Long, and Jan Brett.
What inspires you to write children's books?
Children inspire me to write. Reading a funny story to children that make them laugh is an awesome feeling. I want my books to do the same.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
My greatest joy of writing is coming up with funny characters and situations.
What is your writing process?
I get lots of ideas for writing books. But, not all of my ideas turn into stories. I ponder my thoughts for a story a couple of days to see if a plot comes together. If I can't come up with a problem and a solution for a story, I scrap it.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I am a full time reading paraprofessional teaching elementary school students how to read and write stories. Also, I enjoy reading, walking and practicing yoga.
