Describe your desk
I write on a table made from a slab of rock embedded with malachite and azurite. The window overlooks desert.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I'm from Peoria, Ill, known for its theater. I grew up in the community theaters. So this developed my interest in script writing and supporting community theaters and other arts organizations.
When did you first start writing?
I started writing seriously when I moved to NJ and joined a radio theater. We needed scripts, so I decided to give voice to the many stories I had in my mind, most of them inspired by my iguanas.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
The lack of positive responses from publishers, the enthusiasm of the audiences and actors from the live performances, and the ease of online publishing.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Getting my story onto paper and finishing it.
What do your fans mean to you?
Everything.
What are you working on next?
More murder mysteries and children's stories. Both topics involve a lot of reptiles.
Who are your favorite authors?
Herman Melville, Edgar Allen Poe and Jules Verne
