Interview with L J Emerald

Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in Johannesburg, South Africa. Writing and reading weren't the most valued thing when I was growing up, but when I got to High School and my English teacher would recommend a few books for me to read, I was happy to. That's how I got interested in writing.
When did you first start writing?
I started when I was in the sixth grade. I was about twelve years old.
What's the story behind your latest book?
Love with unimaginable consequences. The story sort of developed from things I've experienced and have witnessed.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
My passion to become a published author.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Falling in love with the characters and getting to understand their individual personalities
Who are your favorite authors?
-Simon Kernick
-Gena Showalter
-J K Rowling
-Amanda Hocking
-John Green and so many others.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
With my dogs, Jackie and Jock. Or watching Food Network.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
I remember it like it was yesterday. It was a short story about living with my aunt and uncle and the fun things we used to do together when I was a kid. Even though I don't know where I put that story, its embedded in memory and I will never forget it.
What do you read for pleasure?
I read a lot of things. I love Hamlet by William Shakespeare, My Blood Approves by Amanda Hocking, Harry Potter by J K Rowling and The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare.
