Interview with Ryan Loera
Published 2014-09-09.
What are you working on next?
I am constantly working on many new and interesting things. I really enjoy experimenting with words and the process of understanding them.
Who are your favorite authors?
James Joyce, Leo Tolstoy, Walt Whitman, Joseph Conrad, Neil Gaiman, Cormac McCarthy, Charles Dickens, Willian Faulkner, J.D. Salinger, Mark Twain, Ralph Ellison, Herman Melville, T.S. Eliot
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
Coffee and books.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
When not writing I am usually reading lots or painting lots of abstract creations.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
By pure chance.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
The first story I wrote, that I can recall, was a bit of a rip off of one of R.L. Stine's stories. I titled it The Haunted Knocker. It was only about ten pages long. I made copies of it and handed them out to my 6th grade classmates. They all seemed to really like it. I've been toying with the notion of rewriting it and making it available in ebook form.
What is your writing process?
I put pen to paper and just scribble away. Eventually the words become somewhat cohesive and readable. I also require coffee and stimulating music.
What do you read for pleasure?
Anything and everything.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
Kindle.
