Interview with Anna Lucas

Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
Peter Pan - adventure, travel and fantasy to spark the imagination.
What are you working on next?
I'm currently working on a series of Antarctic essays.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
There's great joy in exploring thoughts then testing them in text, seeing how they evolve and develop into new expressions. There's satisfaction in crafting words and finding the creative combination that works best. There's also the challenge of finding that elusive, scintillating phrase that illuminates a sentence.

Sir Ernest Shackleton, a key player in Antarctic exploration, inspired many men who travelled with him. This essay explores Shackleton's contribution to the launching of Douglas Mawson's first expedition, and how he continues to inspire through his books and others’ interpretations. Inspired adventurers push boundaries to extreme limits of physical, mental and emotional endurance, as he did.
