Coffee.

George RR Martin, JK Rowling, Neil Gaiman, Haruki Murakami, William Shakespeare, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, and Agatha Christie.
What are you working on next?
A post-apocalyptic story about a man who returns to his old town.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Re-watching my favorite tv shows, going on adventures with my dog, reading, and running.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
Maui, HI. It was a quiet and uneventful place to grow up and so I created my own worlds to get escape to.
When did you first start writing?
Seven or eight years old.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Being able to create complex characters and put them into uncomfortable situations as a means to dig deeper into what it means to be human.
