Interview with Gayle Flynn

When did you first start writing?
I started writing about a year ago, when I was inspired to write this book.
What's the story behind your latest book?
Oak Island is one of my favorite places. It is a very unique place because it is a barrier island with a plethora of trees and abundant wildlife. It is also a place that is so relaxing that your imagination can run freely. I was able to come up a story that incorporates the elements of beautiful Oak Island along with fictional characters.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
It is something I wanted to try my hand at and so I got my courage up and started to write.
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
Smashwords has provided a forum for me to publish my work. I think if Smashwords did not exist, my ebook would never have been published.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
My greatest joy is when all of a sudden I get a spurt of creativity and know how I want to progress my story. I sit at my computer and type as fast as I can.
What do your fans mean to you?
I have never had fans of my writing, since this is my first book. I personally like the idea of having fans and would love to hear about ideas and suggestions they have.
What are you working on next?
I would like to take this book and make it into a series.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I spend my time working, running and doing Tri's. I also enjoy cooking, sewing and taking courses.
How do you approach cover design?
I used a picture of the Oak Island beach that I took on my Iphone for this cover. I am not a great photographer, but felt that the Island was well represented in this cover.
Describe your desk
I do not use a desk when I write! I prefer to write on my computer on the kitchen table where there is plenty of space.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
I love life and am excited to get up and greet each day. I guess it is all the promise each day holds for everyone. I have always lived life to the fullest and will continue to do so, trying new things and meeting new people.
