Who are your favorite authors?
Woo ah! might as well ask which was my favourite raisin in the wedding cake. Far too many authors/genre have woven their magic in my time to list or offend by not listing.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
A charm of Gold Finch at the bird feeders, literally race to see how many of these little charmers have fluttered down to breakfast.
A single pair came for the first time this year followed by their three offspring-word seems to have circulated on the vine and the numbers have peaked at 30-35 (they are quite flighty to count) much to the annoyance of the almost resident House Sparrows.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
YES! back in 1960 a short story for a comic competition titled 'Where did it go' about a mouse and a breeze. It was for the Beezer
no I did not win but they did give me a mention and sent a Beezer pencil & badge - I'd forgotten all about that, thank you for the memory jog.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
Cannot forget that, books were a luxury in 50's UK but Dad bought the complete set of Arthur Mee's Childrens Encyclopedia's from a door to door salesman, I can still bring to mind the excitement of all those shiney new books and the smell.....delicious!
its a recurring memory every time I visit a book shop. Oh yes! Volume I short stories 'King Midas' I suppose the impact would be that it set me on the road to myth and fantasy.
