Interview with Thomas Herold

What is your e-reading device of choice?
I use the iPad mini mostly, however the amazon Kindle paperwhite has the best screen available.
What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
I used my own website as a promotion tool. However I found better success by inviting blog authors to write a review and give them the book and some other bonuses for free.
Describe your desk
Mostly clean and empty. I got my MacBook Pro sitting in the middle, next to me my notepad and also a few pens.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in Germany and coming to the United States was not easy in the beginning. Learning to speak and adapt new words was easier than writing. I guess my writing style in influenced by this as I bring the topic to the point without a lot of overhead.
When did you first start writing?
I wrote my first book back in Germany, which was a manual for a software that I had developed myself.
What's the story behind your latest book?
The demise of the dollar will not be the first time that a currency has collapsed. When you thoroughly look into the historical record, currencies and money systems have always ultimately collapsed. In fact, this has happened every single time.

The type of currency we have right now – called fiat money – is the same type that the overwhelming majority of the entire world has in one form or another.

Fiat money has a 100 percent failure rate. Throughout history, in all cultures great and small, every fiat currency ends up with a real value of absolutely zero.
Think of what that will mean to you and your family when all those hard-earned dollars you have in the bank are worthless and any dollars you earn tomorrow are likewise without value.

You will need a crash course in Economics 101 without the hyperbole and misdirection that are so prevalent in today's financial world. It is my hope that you will agree with me that investing in silver is an excellent way to stave off future economic uncertainty and protect your wealth.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I basically can rely on myself and be responsible for the outcome of my own marketing efforts. I think the future is self publishing as it gives you all the tools you need - especially the speed of implementation.
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
Smashwords is another outlet that is distributing my book and adds up to the revenue stream besides amazon and Barnes & Nobles.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
To study difficult topics and then distill them into easy to understand articles or books.
What do your fans mean to you?
A lot. Without happy readers what's the sense of writing or publishing a book? It's the value that you create that is useful for others that counts.
What are you working on next?
My next project is a complete new education system that is based on the conditions of well-being. The word ‘wealth’ originates from Medieval English and means ‘the condition of well-being’.

Earth is a living planet – a biosphere. Its inherent life forces are the principles that keep it alive, self organizing and self regulating. Every living creature is an intrinsic part of this larger biosphere and therefore connects and aligns with the universal forces of life.

This connectedness is a profound life principle and contributes to driving evolution.

When we face our challenges we expand and grow. It eventually leads to our unique potential. When we connect to our potential we are in tune with our essence – who we really are – we are in alignment with our individual and collective destiny.

Our purpose on earth then develops into a universal meaning. A contribution of service that is rooted in our distinctive talents, gifts and creativity. We serve with our individuality in harmony with the ongoing collective evolution.

Recognizing and feeling our essence is the natural state of happiness. This viewpoint on unity and oneness creates an environment for abundance, affluence and wealth.
Who are your favorite authors?
Jules Verne, Marianne Williamson, Jack London, Fred Alan Wolf
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
The surprise of what life brings to me today.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Learning and researching about topics that interest me. Hiking, listening to good music, traveling.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
Mostly by researching my topic online, which usually leads to books by certain authors.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
No, too long ago.
