A friend told me about Smashwords, so I have only just joined, but on my first day I have sold one book, so that's good!
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I love writing, but it is so difficult to get on the ladder with publishing companies. It was one of my dreams to have a book published, but I thought, why not do it myself. Would love to see it as a book - maybe one day!
When did you first start writing?
When I was a teenager. English was the only thing I loved at school, and over the years I would write poems or short stories, mainly just for myself, but now I am older and have the time it is nice to write more.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
Enid Blyton's Famous Five and Secret Seven were the books I loved as a child, that sense of adventure and of course there was Timmy the dog, I love dogs. Guess they were the first inspiration towards my love of watching detective series these days.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in a small rural town with 3 brothers. On the edge of the countryside, it was the perfect place for adventures and we were always out and about. A lot of the games we played were from our imagination and I guess I am fortunate that I have never lost that sense of imagination.
