Interview with Martha Maria Janse van Rensburg

Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
The first story I ever read was in Grade 1 when my mother took me to our local library. The story was about seasons, but the impact it had in me having my own library card was a very big influence on me. My love for reading started there and just never stopped.
How do you approach cover design?
My sister in law, Jacoleen Janse van Rensburg, designed me a beautiful cover that is inspired by the book.

What do you read for pleasure?
I love reading books in the dystopian genre.

Describe your desk
Very cluttered.
When did you first start writing?
I started writing at the age of 13. My first published book was a collection of Afrikaans poetry. Pulished in 2009, Gedoria.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
The characters in my book falling in love. It feels like I am the one falling in love all over again.
Who are your favorite authors?
It changes week by week. This week it is Cassandra Clare.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Reading and crocheting. Or playing with my kids.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
I love goodreads it gives you a good idea about what is up in the world of books.
