Interview with Marye Audet

What motivated you to become an indie author?
I love sharing recipes on my blog and enjoy writing cookbooks for clients so I decided to try it on my own.
What do your fans mean to you?
My fans rock! They help me choose covers, test recipes, and they encourage me constantly. We're family!
What are you working on next?
I have some fiction I need to finish.. and a devotional... and I have a Sourdough cookbook in the planning stages
Who are your favorite authors?
Jan Karon, Louisa May Alcott, LM Montgomery, Laura Ingalls Wilder, Thoreau... I have a ton of them.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
Jesus Christ and the knowledge that He has a plan for me.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
What is this "not writing" that you speak of?
I do not have a good life balance. I love spending time with family and friends but unless I am on a ship in the middle of the Gulf there's usually a computer in my lap.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Yes. It was in second grade. It was a SCI-FI piece called The Blue Death. I still have a copy of it - my dad had his secretary type it up.
How do you approach cover design?
I will usually start with an image and come up with 4 designs. Then I'll pos them on the Restless Chipotle Facebook fan page to see what my readers think.
Describe your desk
Well, sometimes it's the kitchen table and sometimes it's my lap. There's always coffee nearby!
What are your five favorite books, and why?
The Bible - because it changes me in a positive way. In His Steps - because it makes me think about my attitude toward people and my faith. Civil Disobedience - because it makes me question my ethics and commitment to what I believe. Little House in the Big Woods - because it is comfort food for my mind. Narnia Series - because sometimes I need a vacation.
