Interview with Mary Ann Ozurumba

What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
My greatest joy of writing is when its completed and I read through it and wonder "wow, did I write this?". As a Nigerian who has lived a part of her childhood in Venezuela, I like to think like the white men. So I'm happy when I put that into writing and it comes out great for my readers.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
The first story I ever wrote was a spanish story when I was in Venezuela at the age of 9, called Anna. But my first complete story was called The Magic In Lucy.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
The first story I read was Morrigans Cross by Nora Roberts. Made me believe in magic and love and made me intrested in writing mine.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I spent 5years of my childhood in Caracas, Venezuela when I was 7 then came back to Nigeria. I admire the american lifestyle and I wanted to write about it.
When did you first start writing?
I started writnd romance stories when I was 15. But my first story was a spanish short story called Anna which I won a medal for.
What's the story behind your latest book?
The inspiration comes from my struggle in losing weight and currently failing but hoping to change. Same goes to those girls out there who think they can't be fat and find love. I wanted to create a world where fat girl loses weight and finds love in a difficult situation.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I wanted to get my book across the world easily.
What do your fans mean to you?
Having fans mean the world to me. I like that I'l get to share my work to those out there who are in need of inspiration, and want to get lost in another world. I'm not a great writer but I'm a good one hopefully and my fans can prove that.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
I get up cause I can't sleep in bed all day. New day, new opportunities.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I'm a student so when I'm not writing, I'm having lectures, reading or hanging out with friends.
