Interview with Megan Rose Fawkes

Published 2022-09-26.
What are you working on next?
You'll see eventually.
What do your fans mean to you?
My fans are connections that I have made. I appreciate every fan I have.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I have a million hobbies. Video games and video production are the two major ones outside of writing.
How do you approach cover design?
I use whatever I have to hand. Most of the time, that means royalty-free images and an image editor. I do my best, but I'd love to get a custom cover someday.
Describe your desk
It's a gaming setup that I just happen to write from. Custom-built gaming PC, dual monitors, and a matching set of Razer peripherals.
What do you NOT want to write within your genre?
There are a lot of kinks that my peers appreciate and I don't as much. That said, I don't want to identify something I won't write, because my brain with contrarily interpret that as a challenge.
When did you first start writing?
I was about ten-years old. I was writing fanfiction, mostly for whatever anime was on TV in the late 90's.
What's the story behind your latest book?
I had a fantasy poly romance that I found myself hating the whole time I was writing it, so I scrapped the concept but kept the characters. This is one of those characters' new story.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I was in a creative rut (hehe) with my videos, so I tried writing again. Turns out, it worked out better than gaming videos ever did.
What is your favorite thing you've written?
My favorite thing to write was Darkest Conquest from my Seeds anthology. I just love how fun Rafe was to write.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
The act of creation. Expression has always been my motivation behind my work, even if all I'm expressing is "Werewolves are hot."
