My children inspire me to get out of bed each day, mostly by jumping on my head and screaming :). I have been writing poetry since the fourth grade but what really inspired me to try to publish a poetry book was my children. I have two young boys and would love them to have something to look forward to read from "mommy".
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
As a mother of two boys most of my time that I am not writing I spend working and taking care of them. The moments that I actually get to sit and write are scarce but I would say that those moments are the reasons for some of my best work.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
The greatest part of writing for me is the chance to get my stories out. Every single one of my poems stems from a real life experience and so being able to release that experience into beautiful words and then onto paper is the most fulfilling part of writing for me.
Who are your favorite authors?
Emily Dickinson has been a favorite of mine since my grammar school years. Edgar Allan Poe "The Raven" is another one of my favorite poets.
Where did you grow up and how did that inspire your poetry?
I grew up all over Illinois. My life experiences contribute to my poetry and now I would like to provide you the opportunity to share some of those experiences with me. Some you may relate to and some you may not, we all have different situations that occur in our lives as we grow up but I would love the chance to share mine and hopefully inspire and make my readers hopeful that we can make it thorough anything if we try hard enough.
Who are the biggest inspirations for your book?
Well I love the chance to write in general as well as share with the world but besides myself wanting to succeed with my hopes for my book, my biggest inspirations to write are of course my children, my wonderful soul-mate, my newly found father and all of you. My children inspire me to write by making me want to try my best at everything I do. My soul-mate has always stood by my side and believed in me from the very moment I told him my dream of wanting to publish a book, he has done nothing but urge me to succeed and follow my dreams. My newly found father has never doubted me in any way, shape or form and every single one of you inspire me daily to spread my experiences unto others and share with the world. I thank each one of you for playing a part in this book with me!
What do your fans mean to you?
Well my fans are mostly my family and friends right now but I love and appreciate each one of them for not only taking the time out to read my poetry but for the opportunity for me to run my poems and thoughts through them as an audience as well. Through this book I am hoping to gain you as a fan as well and I thank you for providing me with this chance.
Describe your desk.
My desk is anywhere I am at the time of thinking. Weather I am walking down the street and I have to stop to type something in my notebook on my phone, or I am at the lake sitting and writing or even if I am sitting at home and just happen to open a notebook and write, I guess I consider my desk to be mobile.
