I grew up in the South in a big family. My parents were married, but both had been in previous marriages that ended in the death of their spouses. They both lived in their own houses and had younger kids, which made them have to make some difficult choices. So they decided to stay married but live separately some of the time to make sure everyone was taken care of properly. We were never neglected always had what we needed to live, but it wasn't the way a marriage was supposed to be.
