Interview with Mark Pannebecker

Published 2016-04-23.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
When my characters start telling me what to do.
What do your fans mean to you?
I try to welcome all views of my work with humility, but I must admit my ego does like the fans more...
What are you working on next?
Myth of Love. It's a novel that follows a gregarious, likable philosophy student as he explores the myth of love as his thesis.
Who are your favorite authors?
Mark Twain and James Michener
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
My future self.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Travelling.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
Word of mouth and to support friends/family who've published ebooks.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
It was some anthropomorphic tale when I was in grade school about a talking car...
What is your writing process?
Mull over the plot. Build an outline for the story. Create a history for each character. Start writing. Research when needed during the writing to tighten up the story. Edit. Rewrite. Edit. Rewrite...
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
The Hobbit. I don't recall any specific impact other than then general love of the universe Tolkien had created.
How do you approach cover design?
As a movie still.
