Interview with Natasha Preston

Published 2018-07-05.
What is your writing process?
Me writing process is to plot the whole book and then plan a daily word schedule. Then I start and pretty much forget the whole thing. I write out of order depending on which scene I feel like writing at the time, and usually procrastinate a little too often to hit word goals. But I get it done. Eventually.
What do you read for pleasure?
Yes! I love reading. I was a reader before a writer and fangirl hard when I meet other authors.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
iBooks on my iPad.
Describe your desk
Me desk is my bed, sofa, kitchen table, patio table and sometimes the floor. I’m looking forward to finally having my own office!
What do your fans mean to you?
Everything. I have a close relationship with a lot of my readers on my Facebook page and particularly my Facebook reader group.
What are you working on next?
I’m working on a teen thriller right now. Next up is a contemporary romance titled After the End and I’m so enjoying writing it.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I’m either playing with my sons, chilling with my husband, going out with friends, or reading.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
Most of them are recommended by friends but I do scroll through the iBooks charts often.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Yes, it was Silence, the first book I self-published.
How do you approach cover design?
Oh I’m terrible. I give my designer a very brief description of the book and she somehow creates the most perfect covers. I’m lucky to have her!
When did you first start writing?
I first started in 2010, a bit by accident really. I’ve not looked back since though!
