Interview with Naturelle

Published 2014-07-15.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Knowing that a reader has been somehow changed by ingesting my thoughts and ideas is intoxicating.
Who are your favorite authors?
I would read the late, E.Lynn Harris cover to cover in one sitting. I'd plan my day and evening around it because I knew once I stepped into his masterfully created world I was not coming back until I had read the very last word.
I also love the way Kate DiCamillo brings young (and old) readers to her table.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
The fact that each new day is gift to be honored by changing the world one little bit at a time.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I love to spend time with my two children, my favorite guy, reading, creating...whatever, traveling and enjoying life's everyday pleasures.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
The first story I ever wrote is actually being illustrated currently. It is my baby.
How do you approach cover design?
I want my cover to instantly captivate and make the reader say: "What's in here?".
What do you read for pleasure?
I am a huge fan of James Patterson's Alex Cross series.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
I will unashamedly admit that much prefer page turning and the feel of a book in hand. However, I do enjoy the convenience of the Kindle Fire.
When did you first start writing?
My first memory of really writing was in high school. I had written plenty before then, however it was my freshman English teacher who let me know that I was indeed a writer. The moment she read my very first writing and instinctively clutched her chest and smiled and said, "Who is [my name]? Sweetheart, you are a writer, did you know?"
What motivated you to become an indie author?
A former colleague read one of my short stories. She took my hands in hers, looked me in the eyes and said: "You've got a million dollars in these hands. What are you going to do with it?"
