Interview with Nikki Lee Brannon

What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
My relationship with God and my husband gives me the strength and inspiration to get up and face another day!
What's the story behind your latest book?
The story behind my latest book has brought forth a great deal of healing in my life! The deeply wounded relationship with my abusive, alcoholic father began during my earliest years of childhood and continued until his last days on earth. The release forgiveness brought me was undeniable and absolutely necessary for the scars in my heart and mind to begin to heal. I will never be able to forget but I have been able to forgive and move on to a more functional life. I hope this book allows others to find the strength and courage to do the same.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
The greatest joy of writing is knowing someone can relate in some small way and possibly gain strength and encouragement through the story they read.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Most of my time is spent traveling in music ministry with my family in the U.S. I write columns for various magazines and I'm also a singer/songwriter. One of my most favorite hobbies is horseback riding.
What is your writing process?
I prefer to be outdoors sitting comfortably in the shade of an old oak tree preparing my thoughts collectively. I also keep a dream journal at bedside in case I have any ideas I may be able to use in the story line.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
The internet offers a vast array of search engines and sites to assist in finding the right book in different genres.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
From my earliest days of childhood my mother would read to me from the Bible. The multiple stories from the Bible had a profound effect on the person I am today.
What do your fans mean to you?
I am so thankful for the fans who take time out of their lives to read about mine. Fans are such an important part of the writer's world because without them, there would be no need to write and fill the blank page with creative works. What is the writer without the reader?
What are you working on next?
I am currently working on another non-fiction novel based on the life and times of a Southern family in the 1800s.
Who are your favorite authors?
I love southern authors but my favorite of all time is Harper Lee.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
I've been writing since I was a young child. I can't recall the very first story I ever wrote. My latest work is a collection of the days of my childhood to adulthood which has taken a lifetime to complete.
