Interview with Nimmu R

What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
The greatest joy I get while writing is me being able to live in another person's shoes for those hours. I feel like them, think like them and imagine how the trial and triumphs would have changed them as a person.
What are you working on next?
I love to write romance novels and my next novel is called "Tell Me You Love Me." The thing about love is when it is near to you and always available we take it for granted. This novel is about an aspiring actresses who throws her old life to get into a new one that she had always wanted. But does happiness only happen when you achieve your dream or is it the journey that matters?
Who are your favorite authors?
My favourite authors are Nora Roberts, Nicholas Sparks, BalaKumaran(Tamil Author) and Paulo Coehlo
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
My kids! Those two dependent beings make me shrug off my laziness and jump into action. Also as I need a quiet time to write I try to finish all my daily duties quickly so that I can come back into my world of imagination.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I love making hand made greeting cards with quilling. I have another blog on my quilled creations. http://nimmuscreations.blogspot.in where I post my latest creations. I love to read and love to watch movies too.
After my kids are back from school I spend time playing with them.
What is your writing process?
I always imagine the story in my head while getting ready to sleep. I plan out the entire sequence of a novel from start to finish. Then I start writing. Sometimes when I write the story leads to me other places that I haven't planned too but I go with the flow. Often when I feel it hard to get into the emotions I listen to songs and write simultaneously.
When did you first start writing?
I first started writing when I was in Atlanta. There was a phase when I was going through a self evaluation of what to do with my life. I was into computer programming before my son was born. But I couldn't imagine myself getting back to it. What did I love to do? was the biggest question. I fumbled, I tried different things and I had this story of "Standing Alone" in my head for a long time. So one day with encouragement from my friend I wrote it down as a novella and sent it to him. Later I enrolled in a course through the London School of Journalism and completed a course on novel writing. It gave me a structure and confidence to write novels. Through that course "Love Me...Leave Me Not" was born.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I tried the usual route of sending my synopsis to the big publishers but didn't get any response from them. So I thought why do I need to wait for an approval from some publisher where the chances of getting my books were a probability. So I took the self-publishing route. It was difficult and agonizing when I used to upload my novel in Smash word and find so many errors. But one day I finally did it successfully and felt happy. I do the book cover design and marketing too which gives me full control over my books and I am glad! Of all the things I am yet to figure out the best way to marketing.I do hope the readers give me a chance and read and review my books!
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
I would say that Smash word has helped to me get my book on different other platforms for which I am grateful. I hope to be a success soon!
