Interview with Niomi Chan

What do your fans mean to you?
They mean the world to me, as many people in my personal life other than my mother and my sister, do not support my dream. So my fans are very valuable to me and I hope to meet each and every one of them.
Who are your favorite authors?
I love Obert Skye and Stephen King, they have been my models ever since I was young, though some of Stephen Kings books either scared me for life or made me cry my eyes out, he is my role model. Obert Skye, I discovered him when I was in sixth grade, his Foo series has inspired me greatly.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Watching Tv, reading, playing with my siblings or wishing I could be writing. I tend to jot down random scenes out of a book and not even know where they go, when I am not near my laptop.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Yes, I remember I wrote about my character Niomi, as she was my very first character, she and her twin sister Ollie, which was a character I borrowed from my sister, were in everything I wrote until seventh grade! The first story I ever wrote was about how they went to another world and had to find an amulet, I even still have the first drafts of it.
What is your writing process?
Write a sentence, procrastinate, hit inspiration, write tons, get writers block, get too busy to write, procrastinate, write some more, forget what it is that I am writing, remember, write tons more, finish it, then I think the ending sucks rewrite it, procrastinate, and finished!
How do you approach cover design, does someone help you, what is your relation with this person?
Well I tell my sister what characters I want on it and she then works wonders, she and I collaborate a lot, like she will come up with a plot for an animation and I will help her with characters or she will flat out asks me for help with one. She is technically my best friend.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
The feedback and criticism from my fans, I write so that people will enjoy my work, and I write for my own pleasure as well, so when someone enjoys my writing, I love it and it helps me write more.
What is your favorite snack when writing?
That's hard, because as much as I love food, I have to find something that won't be really messy or greasy, so I have my starbucks Frappuchino and my cheddar cheese crackers, best snack ever!
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
My mother. She reads so much I do believe that there are few books she hasn't read, so sometimes when she suggests a book I will go read it.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
I have a nook, it is light, durable, and cute, while my mother has a kindle fire I will gladly take my cute little nook over that, though I do enjoy the kindle as well.
Who are the most influential people in your life?
My mother, my sister, my eighth grade band teacher, Mr. Thompson, my eighth grade English teacher, Mrs. Hefpner, My eighth grade social studies teacher, Mr. Gillette, and my seventh grade math teacher, Mr.Lee, oh and my wonderful fans!
