Interview with Liz Granholm

What are your five favorite books, and why?
My favourite books are the Harry Potter books. At first it really turned me off but after seeing Prisoner of Azkaban in film form, it caught my interest and I started the series. I've been following it ever since and love losing myself in the story of Harry, Ron and Hermione!
What do you read for pleasure?
I read over and over the Harry Potter books! Some others I tend to read are Percy Jackson series' and books by Janette Oke.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
Ipad!
What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
Barnes and Noble and Kindle are my favourites
Describe your desk
Oi....that's a horrible question! If you ask about my craft desk, it's nearly impossible to see what I have there there is so much! My desk for writing though, usually just has a cup of tea on it and my macbook open with an outline for what I'm writing and my story!
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in Northern Minnesota. I'm Chippewa indian and my culture is very important to me. My family, especially my dad and grandmother made sure I knew our culture and spoke a bit of the language. It reminds me that we always should go back to our roots, and it's why I write quite often historical fiction.
When did you first start writing?
When I was a child! I wrote little stories for my younger siblings. From there I went on to daydreaming and creating stories in my head and slowly started getting them onto paper.
What's the story behind your latest book?
My latest book I decided to collaborate with a previous classmate. He came to me because he needed a writer who could fill in the book/story that he had been putting together. We have a lot of plans for this book and I love how it is coming along!
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
To be able to see my imagination and the characters who come into my head, come alive!
What do your fans mean to you?
I'd like to think I have fans....I don't think I do but those who are I adore!
What are you working on next?
Southern Comfort is in the works with Brent Henry!
Who are your favorite authors?
J.K. Rowling and Rick Riordan
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
My best friend Becky. I don't see her often as she lives in England but I know I can expect a text from her! I then get up and see what the day will bring me!
Do you have any type of disability?
I do! I'm hard of hearing, and have just now seen a specialist and am raising funds to get my hearing aids!
