Interview with Onyinye Ifeanyi

What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
The internet! My business is there. My office, my mall...everything. So when I wake up and I remember there are yet new things to discover online, more solutions to find, and even more lives to reach there, it keeps me going.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Well, for now I have 2kids that I literally 'bribe' to allow me write 'cos being just them, hubby and I, my attention is a great necessity. So when I'm not writing, I spend time making up for their needs I paused while writing. Other than that I watch TV. I love some 'Me-TV' time.
What do you read for pleasure?
I read some fiction stories. Stuffs about aliens and all. Sci-fi fascinates me. Since I'm a nonfiction writer/person, I get amazed at other people's fiction and all. It takes me completely out of my zone and I love that. Sometimes it feels good having a taste of the non-satus quo.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
My phone. eBook reader on my android. Its my 'wonderland'.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up with my grandparents. And no one else. So most of the times, they always left me with a book and a pencil, 'cos guess they figured that was all I needed (till date I have no idea why I didn't get toys but lots of paper sheets and writing materials. Maybe I was asking for them?). Well, what do you do with pencil and paper? I wrote. First it was keeping my diary. Then poetry. Then short stories. And more poetry. Before I started translating my real life experiences into lessons.
What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
Facebook. Facebook. Facebook. Well I could keep typing that again and again because Facebook birthed my online store success. It gave me 80% of my customers initially. And Facebook gave me loyal readers.
Describe your desk
My laptop, tablet and phone. That's all. Because Google provides the rest. Well, my laptop to write, my tablet to play temple run (to avoid break down: its like taking a coffee break) and my phone to answer customers.
What's the story behind your latest book?
Aha! My favorite question. I had married right out of school and so didn't get a proper job after school before marriage. First year, I was pregnant. Second year, I was nursing, couldn't still really look for jobs (they are hard to find in my location), third year another pregnancy. All the while I lived on the internet trying to find a 'work from home' magic that would work for me (And yes, my husband bore us financially but no man should be allowed to do so ENTIRELY. It puts a lot of strain on them and the marriage). So I fell into lots of online scam. Lost a lot of money. Till I discovered my own system which the book (which will be available in series) is all about. So being a housewife inspired my book 'Financial Independence for Housewives'.
By the way, I had a happier home once I started earning an income 'cos for once, I lost the occasional frustration episodes that came with being all-entirely financially dependent.
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
People need to see my books. They are helping with that. And people need WHERE to buy my books, they are providing me with that platform. More so, just being on smashwords adds positively to my profile and I get to grant my first interview! ;)
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Wow! I love passing across information. This passion led me to pursue a Masters Degree in Public Health because I have seen a lot if people make life-threatening mistakes just because they don't know. So writing is for me, is a way of sending out information that could save someone's life. My article on ezinearticles.com: "The good side of addiction" got a lot of testimonials from people and it proves what a great tool the pen is!
What do your fans mean to you?
Well, without my fans there wouldn't be me right? They are the reasons I write. They are the ones I'm writing for and they are the reason I'd keep writing. They mean everything to me!
What are you working on next?
My next is the second part of my book "Financial Independence for Housewives" 'cos I want to make each series as concise as possible, treating one topic per time for better understanding.

Making extra income is everyone's dream...mostly. However most people have given up searching for ways (especially online) to do so as there are too many 'fictitious' stories online as to how you can make $100000 in a week! These stories have been tried by too many people with little or no result. Well, that's changed now as this book is about real life applicable methods of making extra income.
