Interview with Christie Palmer

Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
Where the Wild things live.
I thought that was the most amazing book in the world. To have the monsters following this little kid around. I wanted to have friends like that, I wanted to climb inside that book inside that imagination and live forever.
Who wouldn't want to live in a world of make-believe?
How do you approach cover design?
Ahhh I love the cover design process. I always think I know what I want but my cover artist pulls something together that always blows me away.
I tell her what my story is about and what my background thoughts are, my approach is to build something that grabs readers. I want readers to look at my covers over and over and have them think of scene in my book that touched them. So my covers need to encompass all off that.
So it's important to have a really great relationship with my cover artist that ensures the best cover work.
What are your five favorite books, and why?
Five favorite books of all time?
1. Where the Wild Things Are.
2. The Bridge To Terabitha
3. The Girl with Silver Eyes
4. A Gathering of Gargoyles by: Meredith Ann Pierce
5. By The Sword by: Mercedes Lackey
What do you read for pleasure?
A little of everything, except for horror. I don't read horror, I don't like to be scared.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
I actually own a Galaxy tab so I can read everything!!!!
What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
I suffer from book marketing-exorya. meaning I don't know a lot about marketing I need to take classes, and learn more and more and hire out my marketing because I suck at marketing.
Describe your desk
Looks like a small bomb went off on it. Plus I have a day job, and I work from home several days a week so I carry my desk with me wherever I go. So all I can say is its a mess but an organized mess, at least I know what's going on right?
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I was born and raised in Salt Lake City Ut, and believe it or not I now own a house less then two miles from the home where I was raised. World traveler I am not, but this forced me to use my imagination and boy did I put it to use. I created worlds within worlds, and my readers have benefited from my lack of world travel.
When did you first start writing?
I wrote my first story long hand when I was in middle school.
After reading a book where I didn't like the ending. I wrote a new ending for the book. I actually wrote a fourth book to the serious and gave it the ending I thought it deserved. And the author gene took root.
What's the story behind your latest book?
A war is brewing, the Tribunal wants to posses her and one Reaper will give his soul to love her.

It's the story of a cursed demi-god, and Victor the Reaper over Violence. Set after Lost in Time the Tribunal is scrambling to retain control of the Others on the mortal plane. Elle is a cursed demi-god with powers even she isn't aware of is running for her life the only one that can keep her safe is Victor and the Reapers.

It's a story of new love and new creatures. You won't want to miss it.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
Ultimatly I think I'm a control freak. And by going looking at both indie and traditional publishing I realized that indie was the right answer for me. Leaving me in control of my craft and my books.
