What are your five favorite books, and why?
Just five? Love all Stephen Kings stuff, I like F. Paul Wilson, Tolkien, Tery Brooks and Terry Pratchett.

What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
I have tried many different methods. I even had an agent for a bit, but she passed away just as she was arranging a deal. The deal disappeared because the publisher was a friend. I am now trying this route.
Describe your desk
cluttered, organized chaos.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I lived in many different places in my youth, mostly Southern California. My family didn't have much, so I learn to be creative. Telling stories about certain events in my life. I kept hearing that I should write them down. I also had horrible nightmares as a youth. I had a therapist suggest that I write the nightmares down. i would read them later and thing that would be a great concept for a story. It took a long time before I would finally write them down. You are reading some of the events in my life and nightmares.
When did you first start writing?
I wrote crappy love stories because I was forlong over a girl who had her eyes on another. It was angst ridden and so immature when I read them now. But it helps keeps me stable in my writing now.
What's the story behind your latest book?
I am working on a sci-fi epic.... three books long. I keep putting it aside and going back to it from time to time.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I wanted to get my works out there to be read. many places tell you that they will publish you, but they also want you to put up good faith money too. I like Smashword because i can earn a little money. Hopefully, some agent or budding publisher will see it and say, I have the next Steve King here.
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
We shall see.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
having people read my words and tell me that they want to read more.... awesome feeling.
