Interview with P. D. Stewart

Published 2016-08-10.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I looked into traditional publishing, and wasn't impressed with what I found. Then a relative went the traditional route, and I knew it wasn't for me.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Having the ability to write! I love that my work is out there for others to read, but being able to put what is floating around my head onto paper is amazing.
What do your fans mean to you?
Everything. Fans are the ones who help improve my writing. Each review gives me insight into my own work. I need fans to continue to improve.
What are you working on next?
My novels are part of a series. I just began the 4th novel.
Who are your favorite authors?
I have many favourites. R.A. Salvatore is the first that jumps into my mind. Drizzt was my first favourite character. I read Dean Koontz, Mary Higgins Clark, Agatha Christie, just to name a few.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I love being outdoors. Sitting at the top of Lake Superior, I have much to explore. I also love sitting by a fire, with my husband and friends. Somehow, I even fit reading into my day.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
I wrote a little mystery in highschool. Never did anything with it, but it was a fun thing to create.
What is your writing process?
I am all over the map. No real process, at least not one I am aware of.
I enjoy writing things down in notebooks. I lay out the ideas, and even as I'm writing I jot notes down. While I'm writing the current novel, I tend to get ideas to use in future ones.
