I love romance novels, historical fiction, biographies/autobiographies, and books by fellow African Americans.
When did you first start writing?
I first started writing when I was about 12 years old.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Being able to elicit strong emotions (mostly of love) from my readers.
Who are your favorite authors?
Alice Walker, Zora Neale Hurston, Toni Morrison, Neil Gaiman, and Douglas Adams
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Cooking, reading, watching sports, and driving my kids to their various activities
What's the story behind your latest book?
I'm actually a short story writer. I'm new to the whole process, but my first series is about a young woman who finds love again, after the loss of her mother, and a devastating break-up. The stories are written from the main character's point of view, so by the end, the reader will feel a connection to the main character.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I love creating things-- especially scenarios in my head. I really appreciate the fact that being an indie author affords me the ability to let my imagination run wild.
What do your fans mean to you?
Without their support I wouldn't have a career. So I will be eternally grateful to my fans.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
My family and my work ethic. I'm actually a bit of a workaholic.
What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
I'm a new author, and admittedly, not the most tech savvy. So right now I'm just exploring all of my options. I do find that it is a bit easier to utilize social media outlets to get myself noticed.
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
I love the community feel. I have reached out to several professional authors on this site for formatting and cover help, and the process couldn't have been easier. Everyone is really friendly here.
