Interview with CT Morris

What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
First and foremost, my family is all the inspiration that I need to get out of bed each day. In addition to my family being a motivator, there is my overt curiosity as to what God has in store for me...each and every day. My pets are the cheerleaders that get me moving, as they hover over my bed pitifully waiting to be fed. The icing on the proverbial cake, is being able to teach at a community college...I love working with students and interacting with them.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Living in the hills of Montana...I spend my time outside breathing in the fresh air and enjoying the fact that my nearest neighbor is fifteen miles away. Watching the elk, moose, bear and other Montana wildlife from my porch is always awe inspiring.. In addition, I play the piano...howl at the moon and enjoy swirling oil or acrylic paint on a canvas.
What is your writing process?
I believe that my writing process began as I experienced life. The wretched times and the joyful times that have been a part of my existence. Each and every one of us has a story to tell in our own unique, individual way. I sit in front of my computer and let my life...past and present...transfer onto the paper.
What do you read for pleasure?
I adore reading fiction because it is an escape that fills my brain with images from the written word. Why fiction you may ask...that's an easy question to answer. I can tell myself (as I am sobbing into my tissue) that it is just a story...it didn't really happen. Additionally, I can share what researchers have discovered about reading fiction and sound really intelligent. Neuroscientists have found that fiction has been found to improve or flex the imagination. Wow...no wonder my mind is a bloodcurdling, terrifying place .
