Interview with P. J. Blakey-Novis

Published 2017-03-01.
What do your fans mean to you?
The fans mean everything, of course. Without anyone enjoying my work it would be rather pointless, not only in terms of revenue but also a sense of accomplishment. After recently self-publishing my debut novel, it has been overwhelming to see such great reviews and to hear from so many people who have enjoyed the book already.
What are you working on next?
Currently I am composing a few short stories, largely horrors, which are for submission into some writing competitions. When I have sufficient quantity of short stories I intend to publish an anthology.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I also own a catering business which keeps me busy on a lot of weekends but, when not working, it is usually trips out with the children. We're quite an 'outdoors' family and are fortunate enough to live on the coast, surrounded by countryside, so there are plenty of ways to spend time when the weather is good.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
I'm definitely more of a late writer so I'd be lying if I said I jumped out of bed ready to put words down. But with four children, getting up in the morning isn't much of an option! I look forward to each day, however, the idea of writing more is very motivating.
