Interview with Keith Polliard

Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in the bule collar town of Pittsbrugh, Pa. I have always written poetry however, earlier this year I had knee surgery. I made a cookbook and when that was done i decided to chronicle the love story with my beloved wife. I thought it would be neat to pass down from generation to generation. I friend read my rough draft and encouraged me to seek out publication.
When did you first start writing?
Back in grammar school. I am a hopeless romantic so rather than take notes in class...I would write poetry instead.
What's the story behind your latest book?
It is a true love story. In fact, it is my true love story. It spans from adolecent to adult and counting.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
The mood just struck me one day. I started typing and didn't stop.
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
It is giving me an opportunity at exposure.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
I truely enjoy writing a good poem when I am inspired.
What do your fans mean to you?
If and when I get fans...well...the mean everything. The people I can been a fan of have inspired many of my works over the years.
What are you working on next?
The chronicled adventures of two best friends growing up in the 1980s.
Who are your favorite authors?
I enjoy Edgar Allen Poe.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
Just being me is enough.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Working, cooking, cleaning and everything else that goes along with running a household. In that aspect ladies, i am the exception to every rule however, I just can iron clothes.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
I search words that interest me.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
It fourth grade I made up a book titled "Friendly friends" for fourth grade book report.
What is your writing process?
Once an idea hit, I strike. I will write until I need a break. I right down bullet points or ideas in a sort of outline form.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
I honestly do not.
How do you approach cover design?
I searched and searched until one day, a friend traveling with us took a picture of my family. The rawness of the picture captivated me and became my cover.
What do you read for pleasure?
Mainly articles in magazines. I usually listen to books on cd.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
Describe your desk
I have a nice desk that I rarely use. I take my laptop whereever I am and write whenever I want.
What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
I am starting here with smash word
What are your five favorite books, and why?
wuthering heights-why not

all the Harry Potter books- It is just such an awesome story line.
