Interview with Kayleen Parr

Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in Bathurst, NSW, Australia, the home lived in on the very edge of town, paddocks only behind such. Not really appreciating the location at that time I have, since, realised that the freedom to roam those paddocks, to sit and dwell upon nature - although not born to a family of wealth - was a richness in and of itself .
When did you first start writing?
I started writing seriously later in life albeit writing was something that I had attempted to do earlier. I was inspired by Anne of Green Gables in my early years and can remember that I attempted to write a story along those lines; not a very good one I am afraid.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
My motivation came from my own experience of Life, experiences which required me, for survival sake, to understand the biochemical factors affecting my body. The deeper and deeper I went in understanding the closer and closer I got to understanding the creative process that underlies all functioning. I wanted to share my experience with others and this seemed an ideal way to do just that.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
The greatest joy of writing, for me, is the joy of passing on something that helps another to turn a soul-dead experience into one that can experience the joy of Life.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
Each morning I take time to light a candle, drink a coffee, centre myself in soul radiance, then open myself up to the action/flow of such throughout the day. The action of Life is a giving action. Life-giving energy! Get it? I just ask 'how can I give this day?' Flow occurs and that is what inspires me for when one is higher flow in the action of giving the soul soars. Nothing can inspire more than a soul that can sing its own song!
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I am a Celebrant so officiating, and its preparatory requirement, fills a great deal of my time. I also teach Tai Chi for Arthritis volunteering for the Health Services as well as with Seniors. I walk, have coffee with friends, read and oh, of course, housework!
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
Usually from other books I read that make mention of such.
What is your writing process?
My writing process is taken from my daily diaries. After about three months I go through them and take extractions. Once done I sit with what has felt important and allow Life to take me on an internal journey into understanding.
What are you working on next?
Always the Creative Processes. I truly believe human beings are more capable than they believe themselves to be and understanding the creative process is a start to realising how truly amazing we could be.
Describe your desk
My desk is of an old style, was given to me as a gift, it is beautiful and I just love it. It gives me great pleasure to work at it. When surrounded by beauty we identify with beauty, it brings a more gracious energy to the fore. This is the energy we truly want to work creatively with as it brings more gracious benefits to one's experience. When I work at my desk I am always feeling grateful to have such and gratitude is a wonderful energy and one that nurtures creative juices. I think of all those that have felt to download my work, feeling gratitude towards them. I hope, if you think upon me, you will feel joy for having read my words.
