What is your writing process?
On arrival of some new idea to my mind, I make a small note of it in my notebook and allow the idea to grow up to maturity with passage of time. Most of such ideas get matured in a week, a few may take about a month, while other few may die. I write on maturity of an idea. Surely, nothing matures instantaneously.
How do you approach cover design?
Cover design of a book serves two main purposes - It attracts gazes of prospective buyers, and it says through book title and picture what a reader must expect in between the covers. Additionally, it may say something about the Author of the book. Therefore, cover design must highlight the title supported by a relevant picture and the Author's name.
What do you read for pleasure?
Primary function of reading is to educate the reader through the words. Additionally, it may entertain the reader and keep on enhancing his/her interest and experience in the subject matter. Pleasure of reading is driven by education, experience and entertain through the reading. I got the greatest pleasure out of reading 'War and Peace' by Leo Tolstoy.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
I believe in keeping my inventory at minimum level. Since my Laptop computer is a must for me, I use it for reading eBooks too through Adobe's software.
What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
I publicize my eBooks through widgets on my blogs and websites, and through links on social websites. These ways a free as well as effective. Thus, my authorship on blogs and websites project about me, my writings and what I stand for to the readers.
Describe your desk
Frankly admitting, my desk gives a haphazard view where reference books, computer and its accessories lie in a disordered manner - left in their state of the last usage, until the place needs something else or an item on my desk is needed somewhere else. This needs a large space on the desk which I have. Through this arrangement, I find most of the things I may need on my desk or around.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in a socially conscious family with a rural background having an image of extra-ordinariness in the society. This makes me to work for keeping and maintaining the extra-ordinariness, through my writings. Specialty of rural society is that lives of its members are closely knit as compared to urban societies' low level of relatedness of members. I always think in an out-of-the-box manner to dig untouched virgin grounds of human thought.
When did you first start writing?
My first article was published in a regional newspaper when I was a student of standard 12 at the age of 16 year. It was about democratic rights of people. Recording my thought waves on paper had been in my habit since my childhood. Such notes have been serving process of my evolution to the present level of authorship.
What's the story behind your latest book?
My latest book 'Standing Apart for Reaching the Peak : Follow My Way' is a compilation of my autobiographical notes. It is about how I had been standing apart from the crowd around me and what have been my achievements of standing apart. It is all about strengthening individuality of human-beings. My belief is that only strong individuals can make a strong society.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
My commitment to being a strong individual before being member of a society made me an indie author. Through my authorship, I don't sell myself but my thoughts with each word of mine providing some valuable education to my readers. Another motivating factor has been my dedication to development of linguistics which I rarely notice in people in general.
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
Smashwords provide me a unique platform for publishing my work and reaching it to all corners of the world. Through my written works, I don't earn much, but get a great amount of contentment for which I am thankful to Smashwords. For me, Smashwords work better than other paid platforms and even print media.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
For me, the greatest joy of writing is that I am being read internationally while I sit in an obscure corner of the world.
What do your fans mean to you?
They are my greatest friends often meeting me through my though waves. They are of greater value to me than my physical friends.
What are you working on next?
After publishing about a dozen books in print media, my eleventh eBook is published last month. My next project is translation in English of a Vedic Scripture 'Bhavaprakash' dealing with Ayurvedic way of life, that promises 400 years of lifespan to humanity. It is less about medicines but more about health through foods. This is for the first time that a Vedic Scripture would be presented to people with all its secrets unknown to the humanity so far since its writing about 2300 years ago.
Who are your favorite authors?
I consider Leo Tolstoy as the greatest author of all times so far. His words came direct from his experiences which I try to follow.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
To dig some virgin ground of human thought inspires and becomes objective of my getting out bed each day. I do it each day of my life.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I spend my time in learning through direct experiences with working of the Nature of which the humanity is the most important part of. Experiences provide food for my thoughts. My thoughts become my written work on getting matured.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
I discover each book I read through the intellect of the Author in formulating its title and its preface before going to its contents. Hence, the most important words of my works find place in titles and prefaces of my works.
Which one is your most favorite Book?
When I was at University, I came across 'War and Peace' by Leo Tolstoy, and my liking for it went on improving as I passef from front to the back cover in about a month's time, grasping the whole juice of it in gradual sips. Since then, I have read this book thrice and every time, I like it more. Its narration of characters and events is so vivid that it feels like viewing a video display. No doubt, I would like to emulate its style but have not succeeded yet.
Would you please give a piece of advice to young aspiring Authors?
While on my spree of Online Authorship, I wrote an article 'Way to Authoring a Work' (http://www.celebrationlife.in/2013/01/way-to-authoring-a-work/) which must be seen by the youths aspiring to be Authors.
