Interview with Rayna Noire

Describe your desk
My desk is rather like a movable feast. Sometimes it is in the car, other times on my bed, usually it is the small wooden picnic table I managed to pull indoors. I needed something moderately big for the laptop, printer and my reference books.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I am an Indiana farm girl. I could sit a pony about the same time I learned to walk. I have a great deal of respect for animals and nature in my tales.
When did you first start writing?
I learned how to write when I was four. I started creating my own stories in first grade to replace the bland tales in our reading book.
What's the story behind your latest book?
Revelation is the second book in the Pagan Eyes series and deals with Nora, the oldest sister. Nora is a very serious woman who never seems to laugh. In Revelation, we discover the reason behind her serious mien and witness the reawakening of the person she once was. The man who brings her back to life happens to be in the wrong century. Always a problem, especially when evil is hunting her in her current century..
What motivated you to become an indie author?
Liliana Hart did with her tale of rejection and triumph.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Creating characters and letting them run with the story.
What are you working on next?
I am currently working on the fourth book in the series, Affirmation.
Who are your favorite authors?
Jayne Ann Krentz, Mel Massey, Jane Austen, Maggie Shayne, Mark Twain, J.R.R. Tolkien, P.C. Cast and Mark Twain
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
The first long story I wrote was a commercial version of The Bible with product placement ads.
How do you approach cover design?
I used Dawne Dominique for cover design. She's probably one of the best out there.
What are your five favorite books, and why?
To Kill a Mockingbird--I like how it stays with Scout and allows the reader to discover Atticus Finch through her eyes.
The Martian Chronicles- Bradbury created a world opposite to the one we expected on Mars.
The Afterlife of Billy Fingers--This non-fiction book is amazing.
Gone With the Wind--I liked that Scarlett was greedy, petty, and ambitious. Margaret Mitchell didn't pull any punches in her book. She allowed Scarlett perks because of her beauty, but natural consequences due to her actions.
Angela's Ashes--It was a vivid portrayal of a woman who worked hard to take care of her children in a harsh environment.
What do you read for pleasure?
What is your e-reading device of choice?
The traditional paperback is my fav, but my Kindle gets a free ride in my purse, which allows me to never be without a book to read.
