My latest book is a Victorian erotic novella called THE INITIATION OF PHOEBE. It's the first piece of historical erotica I've published. I wanted to explore sex in 1880s England in all its juicy permutations, with a special emphasis on LGBT erotic practices. Did you know that the word "eroticism" was first coined in 1881?

The heroine, Phoebe Saxon, is a resourceful girl who wants to explore her sexuality more fully. She knows she can't do that while working in her father's pub in an English village, so she willingly goes off with the handsome Lord Jacob Burlington, ostensibly to be his housemaid at Burling Abbey, but knowing that he probably has designs on her body. Jake enjoys sharing his lovers with his coachman, Ben, with whom he's gradually falling in love. Phoebe also forms an erotic bond with the cook, Flo Hendrick, an experienced older woman. But when Phoebe sees that Jake's real interests don't lie with her, she has to make other plans...

Reviewers have called the book "one hot read" and "an enchanting little story full of sex, in a setting in England back before cars and electricity." It's now in paperback and available again on all ebook platforms! (Smashwords, Nook, Apple, Google Play). Book 2, The Further Adventures of Phoebe, is now widely available as well.

Anais Nin was a big influence on me growing up, when I stumbled upon "Delta of Venus" and "Little Birds." Nin wrote in a way that I could only call "polymorphously perverse." I adored the Emmanuelle books as well. The heroine was just naturally bi-curious and into group sex, without even thinking twice about it. Of course real life is more complicated, but I loved the liberating feeling I got from those authors' work...

Smashwords allowed me access to Barnes and Noble, which was a great market for me when I published my first story, "The Bag of Smut," way back in 2012. "The Bag of Smut" originally had a rather trashy cover and it sold like hot cakes for awhile! I feel grateful that Smashwords has always been an open-minded venue and has treated erotica straightforwardly.

I like getting wrapped up in the steamy scenarios I'm crafting. If they work for me, they'll hopefully work for others. I try to make my scenes authentic and believable, too. Hopefully, the power and a bit of the dark side of sexuality comes out in my work, but I want it to be a positive and pleasurable experience for the reader.
