Interview with Divya Singh

Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
Isn't that for better mysteriously hidden? If I disclosed every minute detail of my life, my readers will judge me by my upbringing and other personal aspects. Just so they must know, I have been brought up in various nice places because my dad's work was concerned with a lot of transfers and I am (consider myself) good at heart and decent (insert more amazing attributes!). Having been to many places and having known so many people has not actually influenced me much. It's just from my head.

Although frank and outspoken I usually keep to myself, because only that way I can manage everything I need to.
What do you read for pleasure?
Saying seriously, I am not a reader, rather I am interested in quick movie formats! In essence, I am rather a dreamer who dreams about strange worlds and 'what if' situations. I don't get much time from business and writing, even this much is possible after many long insomniac nights. What I have read were commerce, accounting, maths, blah blah books
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Writing IS the greatest joy! But, no, when readers are going through my thoughts is what makes my heart jump up and down! It is precisely the same, perhaps even better than somebody listening to the crap traversing through my head.
Well, rephrasing the crap could be interesting for someone that's my basic underlying idea!
Are the e-books affecting the real books in store?
I think the real relationship between conventional books and e-books is inclined more towards being complimentary rather than competitive. Take, for example, Mathematics or physics or accountancy, basically practical textbooks, e-books are not a complete answer to the questions the kids have. Then consider the case of, the graphical books, charts, statistics, and diagrams. Textbooks have no competition from e-books. Rather let's put in another way, e-reading devices need to evolve on a revolutionary dimension. Although this must be just my opinion.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
I'm thinking, now a days 'writing frenzy' only, which rather keeps me out of my bed sometimes till the dawn. Somehow I get blessed with ideas during the night. What is so special about a night anyway?
Thank god! Nobody tells me to be in my bed! I am my own boss somehow.
What are you working on next?
Many a sci-fics (about 35), horror, one medical and two erotica!
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I have an apparel manufacturing business (still setting up!), I am either attending to the problems my employees are facing or I am busy chalking out strategies for further expansion. It is like I am having to attend two lovers at a time, where one gets jealous of the other and vice versa
What is your writing process?
HIT the computer or lappy or the phone notes or a diary that i keep for writing ideas ASAP, even if it was a part of the dream. I have hand written a little earlier which was nightmarish to reproduce on the systems. So I tried and succeeded in writing directly on the computer.

Mostly, I feel I get a flow in writing as I sit and think, more n more ideas mushrooming in my mind in sequence. But sometimes something interesting, like the climax itself hits me before I reach the ending so I chalk it down first and rearrange later.
What genre do you prefer to write in?
I have suddenly diverted towards crime these days. I have an idea which is near completion. In a week's time, it would be going live at least here. I have graduated in law and in a way (deterrent way) I appreciate the complex designs of crimes. The criminals are smart and with the latest technologies and tools in their hands, they have grown smarter. My motive will not just cover spreading awareness but also any possible victimization. But in essence, my stories will focus on how people acted up and fought back in challenging situations.

I have not stopped writing science fiction or any other genre but am writing a few books in simultaneity, hence the delay in presenting another book.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
Because I could be an indie author, as simple as that. A sense of control and knowledge of where you are going was a major factor. I am new to this, so I thought why shouldn't I go ahead on this easy and quick road? I never considered writing and I never wanted to frequent big publishing houses when I could just recline on my seat in my comfy office and share my writing with the world!
I suddenly started feeling that my brain was getting too creative in a short span of time. I needed to share them immediately.
Having said that doesn't imply that I haven't been influenced by the reach that internet has on every hand in this world! I think this way I could reach more people than some seeing my strange and unknown name written on a thick book!
