Interview with Robin R Baker

When did you first start writing?
I began writing poetry late in age maybe around age 19...just sitting on my front porch by myself, I had a pen an pad and just wrote:
Alone

Quiet, are the streets
Still, is the air
All by myself
Alone, I am here
Thoughts on my mind
But no one around to share
Wishes of someone here with me
By my side, right here.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I actually just fell into writing. It was nothing that I seeked out to find. I had written a little snipit of something I felt growing up and shared it with a friend. They asked what it was because it sounded like it could be a story...so one day, I sat down and began to elaborate on those few sentences.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Writing something and the words and feelings within touch another person.
What do your fans mean to you?
They are my motivators. They are the ones who keep me going. Even though most of my poetry I considered to be my therapy, it has in turn helped others to say the words they were feeling but did not know how to say. Many of my fans felt they could relate to what I had to say and took pleasure in reading anything I shared with them.
What are you working on next?
Because of my so called writing is my therapy, I plan to begin a story in the lines of "Couch Confessions - A Journey Through my Pain" not the official title but gives one the idea of what road I am soon to walk.
Prior to that project I will soon upload another story I wrote called "Trouble in Paradise" maybe by the fall.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
Life itself. So many are not blessed with another day, or the ability to get out and enjoy what each day has in store...so I try not to do too much complaining...because life could be worse.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Since 2 of my grandkids are now in PA and I don't get to see the other too often, I enjoy listening to music or spending times with family and/or close friends. I have also gotten back into running. Hoping to put a half marathon on my list of accomplishments within the next year or so.
What is your writing process?
Just do it. When a thought comes to mind I grab a pen and paper and just start writing. Some times it works quickly and others it takes a long while to marinate.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
I don't, but I know it was Mary Higgins Clark and she was so descriptive when talking about her characters that I could feel them and see them and sense every action they made. She was so good that I had to stop reading her because she wrote a lot about incest or child kidnapping and things like that.
What do you read for pleasure?
You now, I have not read anything in a very long while. But when I did read I loved suspense.
